Residency: April 24 — May 27, 2017
Sound Installation: May 27 — June 17, 2017
Opening: May 27, 2017 – 7pm
Museolaboratorio, Città Sant’Angelo, Italy

Curated by Fabio Perletta

France Jobin is the first artist to take part in the new Lux Residency Program. She was invited to present Inter/sperse, an in-situ sound installation that will address the soundscape of the Abruzzo region and the surrounding environment of Museolaboratorio.

During the residency period, France Jobin will relate to the territory through the practice of field recording, that she will use to sculpt the acoustic space of Museolaboratorio. The final project will be presented on May 27.

Being affected in a positive way by synesthesia in regards to architectural spaces, is the driving force that compels me to create sound explorations. An architect designs works that occupy a space; I would say I create sound sculptures that fit in the flow of time and perception. For me, the environment architecturally shapes the pieces and how they will be heard. (F. Jobin)

France Jobin is a sound / installation / artist, composer and curator residing in Montréal, Canada. Her audio art can be qualified as “sound-sculpture”, revealing a minimalist approach to complex sound environments where analog and digital intersect.

Her installations express a parallel path, incorporating both musical and visual elements inspired by the architecture of physical spaces. Her works can be “experienced” in a variety of unconventional spaces and new technology festivals across Canada, the United States, South America, South Africa, Europe and Japan. Jobin has created solo recordings for popmuzik records (JP), bake/staalplaat (NL), ROOM40 (AU), nvo (AT), DER (US), ATAK (JP), murmur records (JP), Baskaru (FR) and the prestigious LINE label (US).

This residency is made possible by the generous support of Canada Council for the Arts / Conseil des arts du Canada. With the kind support of Farmacia901, Museolaboratorio, Comune di Città Sant’Angelo.
